A. Fraud is sometimes a problem when purchasing rare wines at auctions, especially when buying in larger batches. The best way to purchase select wines is by establishing close relationships with fine wine retailers or wineries. Bloomberg ran a good article back in 2007 about the potential risks of buying wines at auctions, covered here
