    A. Although the popularity of owning real estate in Costa Rica has skyrocketed in recent years, there continue to be lax restrictions when it comes to foreign ownership of real estate. There are no restrictions when it comes to foreign ownership of businesses or land, as well as no foreign exchange controls, no restrictions on capital or profit repatriation and low business and property taxation rates. Q. Given the increase in popularity of Costa Rican real estate, is there a concern that the local government may revisit the practice of allowing foreign businesses to own real estate? Any recommendations on attorneys or RE agents who could help evaluate?
