A. Well if you are talking syrah, I’d look south to the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara where some wineries are turning out really tasty vintages. If you like Pinot, this is your area too.

A. I live in SF near K&L Wine Merchants (mentioned in the guide). They’re the experts and I highly recommend them.

A. K&L is terrific but while you’re in SOMA swing by The Wine Club (thewineclub.com) – the staff are friendly and the selection is massive (largest west of the Mississippi, I believe)
