A Better Life Via Vacations

Big name health-focused resorts and spas are making the shift from wellness to longevity, unveiling programs that revolve around the concept of adding years to lives. Mixing holistic approaches with medical examinations and preventative care, resorts are expanding their in-house programs and, in some cases, even partnering with preventative medicine centers. The results are vacations that sprinkle meetings with doctors, aestheticians, nutritionists, and eastern medicine practitioners in between yoga sessions and plain old relaxation.

Such wellness resorts make varied promises. Weight loss. Improved nutrition. A renewed life path. Or simply the chance to walk away with an overarching report on the state of your body. But there is another side to the wellness vacation in the form of unnecessary tests that your insurance won’t cover, new agey practices that have little verified medical benefit, and complicated, non-kid friendly nutrition programs best followed with the help of a full-time private chef. Whether you are going for a week of healthy living or looking to walk away with a folder full of new healthy living tips, here’s look at the latest wellness vacation options and what to keep in mind before you book your next trip.
